Drugs:
Drug Sources for Seniors:
If you have been covered by a health insurance policy in the past and
purchased your drugs from the local retail drugstore you know just how expensive
they can be. In an effort to get control of drug spending you may want to
take a look at the following efforts that we have made:
1. Many insurance companies have offered "drugs by mail" for some
time, and usually the discount are substantial. We have seen drugs that
cost $ 200 cost $ 30, and the by mail provider sends 3 months at a time (if you
have a script that allows it).
2. The drug stores in the major outlet stores, like Costco and Sam's Club,
are very competitive, and again we have purchased drugs that cost us $ 55 a
month using an insurance card at an outlet for $ 8 and change.
Costco has a program that offers discounts to those without insurance.
You don't have to be a member to do buisiness with the Costco Pharmacy.
3. If you have the time and patience, you can usually buy your drugs from an
online pharmacy. While we have found that the Canadian Pharmacy and large
online outlets are less competitive than they used to be, it is sometimes worth
the effort.
If you have found a way to legally buy discounted drugs, please pass along
the information to us at grigdon@cox.net
and we will post it on this site.
